Authentication

BoilerGPT sign-in can only be completed with a @purdue.edu email. If you don't have a purdue email, please visit Bring AI to Your University.

Sign-In

Once you visit platform.boilergpt.com, you should see a sign in page, unless you have previously signed in. Please continue with your purdue email and complete the onboarding process.

Sign-Out

To sign out, click on the profile icon in the top right and select the red "Sign Out" button.

Joining Classes

Joining classes should be completed as part of the onboarding step, but can also be added any point after by selecting the top left class dropdown. Once you see the modal appear, click the blue "Join Classes" button. To join classes, search for the course code, for example "MA 266" in exactly this format. If after searching for the course code nothing appears, you are the first person to need BoilerGPT in the class. In this case, you must create the class.

Creating a Class

To create a class, simply type the course code in all caps, for example "MA 26501" as well as a short name for the course. This name doesn't have to be the true course name, but should be what people refer to it as. For example, "Calc 3", "Thermodynamics", "Statics 1".

Asking Questions

Ask questions by navigating to the Learn concepts tab on the left. Paste or type your query, then press enter or click the blue send button to the right. The AI make take a while to respond to your question due to varying levels of demand. If you are waiting for more than a minute, you can refresh the page and ask again. Right now, you can't submit another question while a previous one is generating, so the button will be grey until the response is complete.

To create a new chat, press the "New Chat" button in the bottom left. This will clear your current conversation and save it to chat history. This should be done often so each chat has a distinct topic.

To view your previous chats, click the chat history icon in the bottom left. From here, you can click the modal of previous chat blocks to restore the session. You can also delete previous chats if they were naughty.

Adding Resources

Only upload resources that you have the copyrights to. Any copyrighted material that is found on the site will reported and promptly taken down. In general, don't include any course material (homework, notes, exams, projects,...) without explicit permission from your instructor. There is no automatic way to check for copyright.

Adding resources greatly helps the class! With every new resource, the AI gains more knowledge about the class and generate even more relevant answers.

To add resources, navigate to the "Add Resources" tab.

Linking a Resource

To link a resource, paste the link in the input field on the right. Then, click the button to the right. The resource may take up to a minute to index, depending on the size of the webpage.

Uploading a Resource

Drag files into the single file upload and folder upload respectively to add custom resources. Our indexing engine should be able to accept many different filetypes, but there may be cases where the upload fails due to a filetype we haven't accepted yet. If this is the case, note the filetype and reach out to us.

Reporting Resources

Sometimes people upload bad things. That's why you're able to report resources you deem as not fitting for the class topic or inappropriate. To do this, hover over the three dots on the resource chip and select the report resource option on the dropdown. The resource will still be able to be recommended until it is deleted by a moderator.
